Join Producer Ted Hope and Writer/Director Todd Solondz for a Reddit AMA December 19th

Ted Hope and Todd Solondz are both gigantic names in the indie world, and they are about to release the new film Dark Horse DRM-free on VHX online VOD. The film was just coming to theaters when Ted Hope had his talk at the Vimeo Festival back in June, and now the two of them (Hope and Solondz), are going to be participating in a Reddit Ask-Me-Anything on Wednesday in celebration of the VHX release. Here are the details:

In celebration of DARK HORSE’s Online VOD (via VHX) release, Todd Solondz & I are doing a AMA (AskMeAnything) via Reddit on Wed 12/19 at 1PM EST. Please get your questions ready and join in.

The film will be available online at $9.99 starting Wednesday. DRM free. Perfect Holiday gift!

We've covered Ted a bit here before, and if you've ever heard him speak, you know that he has a wealth of knowledge in all things independent filmmaking. Mr. Hope is one of those people that is not only constantly active online, but also has an extensive resume to back up his words. This could certainly be a good opportunity to ask about independent distribution and about the specific strategy for Dark Horse -- as well as anything else related to independent filmmaking (as the acronym AMA suggests).

The film is already available on Amazon Instant and Blu Ray/DVD, but the VOD through VHX is interesting in that it is DRM-free.

What do you guys think of the films of Todd Solondz? Which ones have you seen and what have you particularly liked or disliked about any of them? Are you planning on asking any questions during the AMA?

Your Comment

Solondz has been a great chronicler of dysfunction for awhile now. I still have a soft spot for his first film Welcome to the Dollhouse. Looking forward to the reddit.

Looks like a great dark comedy. These guys should be able to give a lot of great advice about independent fundraising and distribution. I can't wait to here what it was like for them to work with Christopher Walken!

Has anyone seen a copy of the screenplay to this movie floating around? I'd love to read it.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen a Todd Solondz film. This one is probably a rental in my book, but that's just my opinion.

I wasn't particularly moved by the trailer. It could be good, it could be bad. Either way, I'm not going to rush to see Dark Horse.
