Musicbed Introduces New Features That Will Change the Way You License Music

Finding licensable music is a huge challenge, one that many filmmakers still don't know how to overcome. This is why the work that the team over at Musicbed has been doing is so important.

Musicbed has been offering exceptional music licensing services for over five years, but their recent website upgrades has made the process of finding fresh new music a whole lot easier. We'll get to those in just a second, but first -- some good news for NFSers interested in licensing some music: Musicbed is offering NFS readers an exclusive discount. Use the code NFS20 to get 20% off your next license.

Okay, back to business. Musicbed has really overhauled their website, offering exciting new changes that make the site more beautiful, personal, and intuitive. Here are a few of those new features that are particularly exciting:

Personalized Music Curation

Using Musicbed is now a more personalized experience thanks to a new algorithm that curates your music based on you -- it gets smarter the more that you use it. Some of the new features include:

  • Personalized Recommendations: Get track recommendations inline with your tastes based on prior licenses, listens and favorites.
  • Follow Your Favorite Artists: Receive updates in real-time when your favorite artists release new music.
  • Smarter “Living” Playlists: Discover new content through Musicbed’s curated playlists that now include notifications when updated by Musicbed curation staff. (This is actually one of the most popular ways people discover new artists on Musicbed.)

Lyrical/Instrumental Bundles

Having both the lyrical and instrumental versions of a song can give you a lot more freedom and latitude when it comes time to edit, which is why it's pretty awesome that Musicbed now offers a 50% discount when you license both versions of a track.

New Music

Music licensing is nothing without music (duh), and Musicbed's super-curated library is growing by over 100 albums and artists over the next month. This includes a new catalog that features music from music legends of the 50s and 60s (which will be announced in late January).

Musicbed Sessions

Musicbed isn't just about licensing music, it's also about being a part of a community. Musicbed Sessions allows users to see the faces behind the music they're listening to with beautiful one-take performances of some of their amazing artists -- and if you love the song, you can license it right then and there.

Film industry pros from Philip Bloom to Warner Brothers have made Musicbed their choice when it comes time for the oft unpleasant task of licensing music. And since they've made the process a lot more enjoyable and intuitive with their new personalization features, it seems like their list of satisfied customers will only continue to grow.

We really dig the new improvements, so be sure to check them out for yourself. And remember: use code NFS20 to get 20% off your first license.Description: New-Musicbed/New-Musicbed-3.jpg

If only music bed offered a better license for corporations. It's a fantastic resource for independent producers... but charging by a corporation size makes no sense at all- which means I can't take advantage for 75% of my clients because it's too cost prohibitive.

Completely agree. I did a video for a small division of a HUGE company and the licensing cost would have been more than the entire video budget bc they have over 100k employees.

What kind of idiot company makes a music licencing site, but doesn't allow you to skip through tracks to listen to different sections?...Let me waste my entire day having to listen to every track from start to finish because we don't have a player with control.

You might as well start a stock photo site that forces you to wait 3 minutes to load the entire photo.

Nice work.

Removing usability features is so fresh and indie.

I'm a huge supporter of MusicBed. It's a phenomenal tool for finding and licensing music. They are pretty down to earth and seem willing to work with your budget when looking for custom licenses. Big Ups to those guys (and gals)!

What they didn't convey is that their pricing actually increased. So while they are generous enough to give you a 20% off code, it still costs more since (from what I've seen) the cost has at least doubled.

Just did a 2 minute video for a small division of a large company and ONE track was going to cost us $3500. some independents charge that much to score an entire film! i won't be using this service anymore. the music is good, but its much more cost effective to hire a pro to cater to my needs at that price point... and they'll do it much cheaper.

I ran into the same issue with my company, took a look at some of the offerings and they were going to cost $1,500+ for a 1:30 track.
