Condition One Announces the Bison, a Rugged 16-Lens Stereoscopic 360° News Camera
At this year's NAB, Condition One unveiled an interesting piece of equipment that is essentially its own VR studio.
Condition One founder Danfung Dennis directed the Oscar-nominated documentary Hell and Back Again, lensing it on a Canon 5D Mark II during the Afghanistan war and winning a Sundance Cinematography Award for his efforts. He since founded Condition One based on the belief that VR can engender a greater sense of understanding and empathy than traditional video. "Bison" is a rugged camera rig built for news applications outdoors, consisting of 16 genlocked cameras. Condition One is its own VR studio and distribution ecosystem as well, with an Android app currently available to view the VR experiences currently available on the platform. More images of the Bison camera are below.
