Cooke Optics Rolls Out Mounts for MiniS4/i Cine Lenses

Cooke Optics
Ahead of IBC 2016, Cooke Optics introduces mounts for Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E, and Micro 4/3.

As we alluded to in earlier gear posts, IBC is just around the corner, which means a heap of new tech will be announced for us to gawk at (and possibly buy). Due to ship October 2016, these Cooke Optics mounts fit every focal length on the miniS4/i series lenses, with options for Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E, and Micro 4/3

"With these interchangeable mounts, we can now bring the Cooke Look to many more cameras and productions."

If you already own a miniS4/i, simply unbolt the PL mount that comes standard on the cine lens and replace it with new mount and shim. Anyone buying after the October ship date will have their mount of choice shipped with the lens straight from the factory.

Designed to work with mirrorless cameras, Les Zellan of Cooke Optics says, "With the introduction of these interchangeable mounts, we can now bring the Cooke Look to many more cameras and productions, giving even more choice to directors of photography.”

The price is pending.

Compatibility with:

  • Canon EF
  • Nikon F
  • Sony E
  • Micro 4/3

As an update on this, I emailed Cooke to inquire about the availability of EF mount miniS4 lenses and they confirmed that they have abandoned the EF mount project due to mechanical issues. They still plan to introduce MFT and Sony E mount lenses, but this isn't very exciting news as there are already plenty of PL to MFT and PL to E mount adapters available.
