Tell Zacuto How You Became a Filmmaker, Win Hella Prizes

By Rawpixel.com
Submit a sixty-second video and you could win a wealth of cash, gear and post production services.

Tired of going to networking event after networking event and never getting any solid results? Finally, Zacuto USA has given us a productive way to tell people about what inspired us to get into film! The camera accessory company announced their My Story Film Competition, centered around making a 60-second video that illustrates the moment you knew you wanted to be a filmmaker.

Zacuto asks: How did you become a filmmaker? Were you inspired by a certain film or by listening to a filmmaker speak? Was it while holding your first camera or watching a friend laugh at your YouTube video?

Of course, the key here will be to tell your story in the most innovative way possible. The genre, style and storytelling devices you choose will be what separate you from the pack. Think out of the box for this one; they aren't looking for dramatic re-enactments.

If you win, the prize package gives you virtually everything you'll need for your next film (aside from a camera or lens.) Zacuto has partnered with Adobe, Cartoni, Kessler, Kyno, Portabrace, Premiumbeat, Rocketstock, Rode, Rotolight, Studiobinder, and Vid-Atlantic to provide aspiring filmmakers with the foundation to get started creating content. Check out the packages for first, second and third place below:

There is no entry fee and the contest is open to all international participants aged 18 and over. The process to enter couldn't be more simple:

  • Step 1 – Create your <60 second "My Story" masterpiece!
  • Step 2 – Upload it to Vimeo with the title “FILM TITLE, YOUR NAME – #MyStoryCompetition” and add “zacuto” to the video tags.
  • Step 3 – Join this group and add your video.
  • Step 4 – Your video will be approved the following morning M-F. Once your video is approved, your submission is complete.

The last date to enter is March 31 and winners will be notified by a Zacuto representative via Vimeo on or by April 14th, 2017.  You can read more about the contest and begin your submission here. Good luck!
