Curious about AI tech?

Want to take your social media video to the next level?

Trash is a mobile video app that uses AI to edit your videos for you. Upload video clips and TRASH generates an edit for you using cutting-edge tech developed with a National Science Foundation grant.  The app AI  instantly generates a rough cut and does "the heavy lifting (like finding the interesting moments and cutting them to the beat of the music)." Users can then easily reorder and delete clips, change the music, pace, and visual effects.

The app is currently invite-only, and TRASH has granted No Film School readers insider access. When you download the app, use access code: nofilmschool.

If you are interested, act quickly. This is a limited time offer. After you give it a try, TRASH definitely wants to hear from our readers.

“[We] care very much for the feedback that you all have!” - Hannah Donovan

The TRASH team would love to hear your feedback on:

Usage

  • What do you see yourself using this app for? A rough cut of a short video project? Montage sequence? Behind the scenes featurette? Instagram stories?

Problems

  • How is the user experience? Any issues with functionality? Find a bug?

Requests

  • What features, improvements, and wishes would you like to see in the app?

Trash shared a sneak peek at what's to come with NFS. Soon, the team has plans to roll out more packs of "vibes" (the smart filters that change the "vibe" of your video). Ideas in the works include retro and lens effects; fashion-inspired moods, and director styles (e.g., Tarantino, Anderson, Wong Kar-Wai, etc.).

Would you use 'vibes' to emulate a director’s style? What lens effects would you like to see? We’re excited to see what comes next with this innovative new tech.

Send feedback to the Trash app team via e-mail: feedback@trash.app, Twitter @thetrashapp, or Instagram @thetrashapp.

Let us know in the comments whether you think real AI-driven editing will happen soon.
