Ladies and gentleman, start your engines. Get ready to transport something and stick your head out the window, and smell what The Rock is cooking. Okay, I'm running out of Rock and Statham puns, but you get the picture. I am extremely excited for this movie.

The Fast and Furious is one of my favorite franchises not only because I love watching things explode but also because it was born from an original idea. Those movies built to mega-blockbusters naturally. From a modest street racing movie to chasing down a nuclear sub across an ice lake.

But they haven't all been smooth rides.

We lost Paul Walker in a tragic accident and tension among The Rock and Vin Diesel threatened to derail the whole franchise.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vin Diesel don't see eye to eye. He explained to The Hollywood Reporter

“Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer. And what I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating. It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarity. Whether we work together again or not.”

Lucky for us, everyone thought the best way for these two to work it out was in different movies. So we are getting even more Furious for our viewing pleasure.

The movie, directed by David Leitch from a screenplay by Chris Morgan, looks like it's a blast. The stunts look up to Leitch's usual mastery, and it seems like set life is happy. Jason Statham described his time on set with Entertainment Weekly

“We’re having a ball...It’s definitely become much funnier than we intended for it to be, I think. It’s just two guys screwing around, making the most of it, and we’re getting some good stuff. But that will be determined by the audience, I’m sure, whether it’s good or bad [laughs]. But we feel like we’re doing something great and we’re enjoying it.”

This amicable on-set environment makes it seem like both of these actors will be distraction free and putting in stellar performances. If there's one thing I think the Furious franchise needed it was a little bit more of a sense of humor in everything. That was the best stuff Hobb's and Shaw provided in the other films, so it will be great to see a movie channeled with that in mind.

This movie pits the men against Idris Elba, who looks particularly villainous. If we can't get him as Bond, it will be fun to see him in the blue-collar Bond-esque franchise.
