This story is breaking, but according to Variety, "Film and television production in New York City can resume on July 20th, Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a news conference on Friday. The restrictions of shooting were part of a city-wide shutdown in March—a period of time in which the city became the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic. Cases have since dropped dramatically. Hospitalizations from COVID-19 dropped to their lowest levels in 4 months this week."

This is huge news and part of New York City’s Phase 4 reopening.

You can't dine indoors or congregate in large groups, but you can now film. We don't have any details about safety measures or requirements on set, but they seem to think people will be alright.

“It’s all about safety,” de Blasio said. “We want to bring people back to work. We want people to get their livelihoods back. We want to bring our city back. But safety and health first, always.”

As much as I want to work, I want to know that my work won't kill me and the people I interact with every day. Even if there are tax incentives and other things at play here, this seems like a big push to jumpstart the economy instead of securing people's lives.

We will see how it pans out and who shoots there.
