The world of technology is filled with wishes. We're always saying, "I wish I could..." about our creative toys. I wish I could edit a text. I wish I could see all my apps and work at the same time. I wish I could use my iPhone as my webcam. I wish my computer could write my script for me.

New Year, New OS

Well, you're in luck. The new macOS Ventura will turn at least some of these wishes into "I can" with new additions to its operating system.

macOS refers to the operating system that runs on Apple Mac computers (sorry, PC friends), and Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is the home base for new announcements about enhancements coming to their platform.

Below are three new additions creators should look out for and consider. Here's what Ventura can help you venture into.

Venture into unique set-ups for video calls, lessons, and more with your iPhone and your computer.

Want to use your iPhone as your primary webcam? Or have dual views of yourself and your desk at the same time on a call?  Well—now you can!

Two new features in macOS Ventura, Continuity Camera and Desk View, will work together to unlock more options for your calls. Creators jumping into remote interviews, setting up press junkets, and producing other online content will have more flexibility and options in their virtual setup. In addition, Desk View allows a simultaneous overhead look of your desk using the Ultra-Wide lens on your phone, an innovative and helpful option for lessons, classes, teaching opportunities, or to share the doodle you made during your meeting.

Venture into Messages to collaborate on film production documents or edit your mistakes.

Did ya tell someone to be on set at 5:00 a.m. instead of 6:00 a.m.? Oops.

The updated Messages in macOS Ventura are coming to the rescue! Messages on the Mac will allow you to edit your messages, recover messages, or undo a sent message.

Want everyone in a text thread to be able to collaborate on a call sheet? You can do that as well by sharing documents in your text thread and allowing fellow users to collaborate. It is unclear how this may play out with users who aren't on an iPhone or macOS system. Considering it took a while not to annoy both Android and iPhone users with the "like" button, it should be an interesting step.

Venture into Stage Manager to focus on your work.

If you've ever played a scavenger hunt on your computer to reopen and recenter your work, Stage Manager is here to help you manage your applications. Whatever you're working in will be front and center, with other apps and work on the left-hand side. And no more hunting for the desktop, as it's always available. Even if it's messy... like mine...

As for when you can venture, Apple shares that a beta version of Ventura will be available in July at beta.apple.com. macOS Ventura will be fully available in the fall.

But what about editors? Will the new macOS offer more opportunities or be a hindrance as the initial bugs are worked out? We're not sure at the moment, but we'll keep an eye out for any issues and let you know more as things crop up (as they usually do). Until then, enjoy the new toys and features.
