This morning, we learned that Timothee Chalamet would be starring in Wonka, an original story for the Roald Dahl character.

According to Deadline, the film "will focus on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures prior to opening the world’s most famous chocolate factory. Sources also tell Deadline that Wonka will mark the first time Chalamet gets to show off his singing and dancing skills with several musical numbers set to appear in the film."

Even better news, the original musical film will be directed by Paul King, who is fresh off both Paddington movies.

There will be no Charlie Bucket in these films. These seem to be built around the individual adventures of Wonka and maybe how he meets those Oompa Loompas. I wonder how they will be portrayed. We've seen Hollywood act pretty insensitive toward Indigenous people, and both previous Wonka movies have had to tread carefully in that area.

Are you excited about the new Wonka? Let us know in the comments.
