Look, we're in a time in this world where we need all the help we can get. The limits on production have taken away jobs and opportunities, especially for documentary filmmakers. Things have been hard, so that's why I'm so happy to present this opportunity for our readers.

The good people at Field of Vision are offering a bailout, of sorts. There's funding you can apply for if your position was affected by the coronavirus, but this is the final round.

This round will close June 12th at 6 PM ET, or once 500 applications have been received. Field of Vision will be prioritizing providing support to filmmakers of color and filmmakers from other marginalized communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic for this final round of funding.

So log on and get your applications in quick.

To get started, you'll need to provide a link (examples: IMDB page, Film Review, Direct link to project) that shows professional work in the field.

The fund is eligible for artists internationally, but you'll have to be able to receive funding electronically since Field of Vision can't issue checks. Also, priority will be given to countries and regions of which there isn’t government freelance assistance that you are eligible for. If you have not been eligible for government assistance, please state that in your application.

Students who are currently enrolled are not eligible.

Be able to demonstrate work as a freelancer within the documentary field in roles such as:

  • Directors
  • Producers (This includes Associate Producers)
  • DPs - Editors - Sound Recordists/Designers
  • Researchers - Assistants
  • Critics & Writers who have covered documentaries
  • Publicists

Okay, get applying now! Apply to Field of Vision's Documentary Freelancer Relief Fund.
