New 'Star Wars' TV Show coming From 'Russian Doll' Creator

Leslye Headland
Variety is reporting that a new Star Wars TV show is in the works from Leslye Headland. Get excited!

For those of you unfamiliar with her genius, Leslye Headland is the co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series Russian Doll. Before that show, Headland was an incredibly accomplished playwright, writer, and director.

Now she's taking her talents to a galaxy far, far away.

We don't know too many details, but sources say it will be a female-centric series that takes place in a different part of the Star Wars timeline than other projects.

Much like The Mandalorian, the best Star Wars stuff we've gotten recently has allowed creators to not be beholden to the previous films or storylines. If Headland gets to approach her own story and world, the sky is the limit for the stories she can tell.

And given her past work, I am very excited to see her imagination run wild.

What else is going on in Star Wars land?

There are currently two other shows in the pipeline for Disney Plus. The first is an Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor. The second is a Rogue One prequel series starring Diego Luna.

With most of us running out of things to stream, these shows cannot come soon enough!

So somebody who adapted a concept from a famous film into a series already forgotten without showing much talent or originality will adapt a famous universe into a series, probably with no originality nor talent. "Her imagination run wild" made me smile...
But "the sky is the limit for the stories she can tell"? Come on! The limit in the way Hollywood and most american filmmakers tell stories with this obsession of "storytelling" has been reached a long time ago... All stories in US films and series look exactly the same. Exactly the same. You want to see imagination, talent? Watch films made in Thailand, Colombia, Iran, South Korea, Mexico, Poland...

You absolute right, "Her imagination run wild"...jeez, in Disney? The only imagination allowed in Disney is get a wider audience possible, be politically correct, no violence, no vulgarity, predictable plot and don't make people think, stop.

Before that show, Headland was an incredibly accomplished playwright, writer, and director. I wanna say that the producer make great work, that's so much expertise and emotion in it.
