Samyang has announced a 14mm T3.1 VDSLR MK2 for creators looking to add a wide-angle lens to workflows. The VDSLR MK2 series was introduced during the fall of last year, and Samyang has updated the lenses with improved optical performance and better weather sealing. If you're in the U.S., the lenses are called the Rokinon Cine DSX series.

The 14mm T3.1 joins four other focal lengths in the series that includes a 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm. Each lens is fully compatible with seven different camera mounts—Canon EF, Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon F, Canon M, Fuji X, and MFT—and are workhorses for DSLR and mirrorless systems.

The still optics have been rehoused with cine-friendly features in mind that include a de-click aperture and matching rings equipped with standard 0.8m gears. They can cover full-frame sensors (36x24mm) and tout optical elements to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion while delivering edge-to-edge sharpness.

The 14mm T3.1 has the same 9 blade aperture as the other focal lengths that will create a nice round bokeh. On full-frame sensors, it has a 115.7° field of view and a 0.92 ft (0.28 m) minimum focusing distance.

In addition to the mounts available, the Canon RF mount has a rear filter to allow you to use gel filters without vignetting.

Expect the 14mm T3.1 to arrive in April 2021.
