However, whether you’re having a good time or are stressed out, there’s never a good reason not to take precautions to protect your gear and keep you and your crew safe.
Today’s reminder that film crews and video teams should always be safe comes from the story of a music video shoot in London, having a $26,000 ARRI Alexa Mini brazenly stolen from their set.
It’s a nightmare scenario, but hopefully, in sharing this news, you, your crews, and your sets will be reminded to keep things tighter, more professional, and always secure.
ARRI Alexa Mini Stolen
From posts shared on Instagram and reported by Daily Mail and PetaPixel, you can watch the brazen camera theft of the ARRI Alexa Mini via CCTV footage that shows a car slowly approach the Alexa Mini while the crew wasn’t paying attention to it.
The crew was being led by a director of photography named Chaimuki, who says that she attempted to chase the thieves on an electric bike but was not able to catch up to them, nor get the team’s camera back.

Protect Your Gear and Your Crew
This whole situation serves as an important reminder to keep your sets safe, professional, and secure. Luckil,y no one on the crew was hurt in any way. A camera, even an expensive one like an ARRI Alexa Mini, will always be replaceable—but crew safety should always be a top priority.
After that, though, keeping your cameras and gear safe and secure at all times should be the next highest priority. The crew in London lost an ARRI Alexa Mini, a Laowa 12mm lens, and a transmitter.
