While Panasonic still doesn't have a Full Frame Varicam Cinema camera to compete with the Sony VENICE and Alexa LF, it did just drop the price more than a third on the Varicam LT, which is a good sign that something is coming there.  They released the full frame mirrorless S1 in february, and now at Cine-Gear they've just released the S1H, the "video flavored" version of the camera.  It comes capable of shooting 6K video 4:2:2 10bit internal, hopefully at 100mb/s, up to 24fps, and can do slow motion in 4k.

Using the L-mount (part of an alliance with Sigma and Leica), it's easy to adapt to EF or PL lenses.

It boasts some seriously impressive stats...and has the gorgeous footage to prove it

Here are the highlights:

  • L Mount lens mounting system
  • 6K 3:2 up to 24p (a lot like open-gate), 5.9K 16:9 up to 30p
  • 4K 10bit internal up to 30p, 4K 10bit external (via HDMI) up to 60p, V-Gamut (same look as Panasonic's EVA-1 or the Panasonic VariCam, currently 39% off)
  • Unlimited recording time
  • 14+ stops of dynamic range
