DIY Animator M dot Strange Returns with 'Heart String Marionette'
As you know, this site is about DIY filmmaking and independent creativity, and few filmmakers are a better example of these pursuits than fellow 25 New Face M dot Strange, who self-distributed his animated feature We are the Strange in 2007. Now he's back with a trailer for his new project, Heart String Marionette. More than just an atmospheric Tim Burton-esque trailer, the video also includes a call-out to an associated product that speaks volumes about forging an independent DIY career:
More than just self-marketing the film itself, M dot is self-selling A_BOOK, a 184-page behind-the-scenes look at the film. In this era of sharing, forging an independent career is not only about the work you do, but also how you relate to your fans and what you give back to the community. I hope No Film School is another example of the same thing, and I hope to join M dot with a feature of my own -- more news to come on that front soon.
