If you recently got your hands on a GorillaPod, sweet! You are now one of the thousands of filmmakers who are proud owners of a super versatile, super effective piece of camera gear. No seriously, after these little adjustable tripods came out over a decade ago, everybody and their great aunt Carol went out and bought one and let me tell you, filmmaking on a budget was made a whole lot more fun. However, if you're someone like me who has lost their ability to think and imagine after puberty ('cause girls), you might be stumped on how to make your GorillaPod be more than a weird-looking tabletop tripod. If so, Jordy Vandeput of Cinecom shows you six ways to bend and twist that thing into clever, new camera tools in the video below.

If you've had a GorillaPod for a while and were like "duh" at this video, okay, okay, okay. I get it, you're inventive and I'm jealous. But again, some of us need a little spark to ignite our inner engineer or, you know, someone to just tell us how to use things in cool ways. Either way, Jordy delivers the goods.

  • Mini-jib shot: This will give you a pretty nice mini-jib effect, which is perfect if you're shooting smaller subjects.
  • Pretty bad gimbal shot: Not the best on the list, but you might be able to make it work.
  • Camera rig support: By using your chest and hands as points of contact, you'll be able to stabilize your camera much easier.
  • Weirdly cool POV shot: You may not use this type of shot very often, but let's not pretend that it isn't super cool anyway.
  • Classic wrap job: If you have a GorillaPod, you probably know about wrapping the legs around stuff. If not, behold!
  • It also does lights:  It does...just slap one on there and light it up.
