This morning at 8:30 AM Eastern Time, Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams announced the nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

There were some surprises, with RRR getting a Best Song nomination, which means we should have a helluva dance number this year.

Also, after finding her grassroots campaign to be nominated herself, Andrea Riseborough was nominated for Best Actress for To Leslie. James Cameron was left off the Best Director list, and All Quiet on the Western Front had a huge coming-out party, was the Academy nominated it for several categories, including best picture.

Last year they awarded eight different categories before the show even began, but this year they may actually allow those people to have their moment in the spotlight during the regular telecast, the way it always was. New Academy CEO Bill Kramer has said that he would like to have all of the categories awarded during the live show this year.
