The Avengers are somewhat reassembled (give or take a few of their deceased coworkers) for Avengers: Endgame, the latest and largest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

As described when the teaser dropped: "half of the world's population was wiped out by the evil, purple-faced Thanos (played by Josh Brolin), and now it's up to the remaining Avengers to pick up the pieces and fight back. Things tend to get darkest right before encountering the light, so here's hoping things turn out well for the remaining Avengers, led by Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd)."

What this new trailer makes clear is that the remaining Avengers includes the newly introduced Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), a character alluded to in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War and currently represented on-screen in Captain Marvel. How will she help to defeat Thanos? Is it possible to bring back the characters who were killed off and roasted to dust in the previous film? Will Captain Marvel survive to ultimately bring us...Captain Marvel 2?

Franchise be damned - there's a finality here that puts all further sequels (except for that upcoming eurotrip Spider-Man one) into question.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26th, 2019
