Spring has sprung, and filmmakers are ready to get back outdoors and film their latest projects. Whether you are in pre-production or in the midst of production, finding funding can be an ongoing stressful element that will always put some pressure on the process.

That is where grants come into play.


Right now, The Future of Film is Female wants to support women and non-binary filmmakers make their short films. Their mission is to support filmmakers early in their careers by offering grant programs for short films, unique programming, building a community where women are supporting women, and ensuring equal representation of BIWOC in the industry.

FOFIF 2023 Spring Grant

FOFIF announced their Spring 2023 submission cycle will be opening on April 17. They will be funding short films in pre-production or in production, and offer to support the chosen films during post-production with sound services from Heard City and color services from Nice Shoes.

Your project might be perfect for this grant if meet these qualifying factors:

  • For ALL women and non-binary directors
  • Preferably no more than 20 minutes
  • Non-U.S. films are considered
  • All genres accepted!

Right now, FOFIF is not currently considering funding episodic works or covering any festival submission fees. This is a grant to help you get your short film made.

If you are considering submitting a project that is pre-production, you must include samples of previous work.
