Fujinon Sets Premista 19-45mm T2.9 Release Date
The Premista 19-45mm T2.9 will be available on Jan. 28.
When Fujinon announced the third focal length in its Premista series last September it came with a TBD release date. The company has now pinned Jan. 28, 2021, as the official launch date for the Premista 19-45mm T2.9.
The lens joins the 28-100mm T2.9 and 80-250mm T2.9-3.5 cine zooms, creating a trio that covers large format sensors with an image circle up to 46.3mm. The lenses can easily be paired with ARRI LF, RED DSMC2, Sony VENICE, the Canon C700FF, or full-frame cameras without vignetting.
While the 19-45mm T2.9 is the widest angled zoom among them, it touts the most compact design with an overall length of 9" (228mm) and a weight of 7.3 lbs (3.3 kg). Optically, the aspherical lens elements have been designed to correct chromatic aberrations and distortion across the entire zoom range. Shooters can also expect corner-to-corner sharpness.
As you'd expect from high-end cinema glass, the Premista series shares matching focus, iris, and zoom rings, a 114mm front diameter, and a friendly focus throw of 280°.
The lenses also have a feature that allows you to adjust the flange focal distance (the distance from the mount to the image sensor) by rotating a ring on the lens barrel that corrects shifts potentially caused by temperature changes. If metadata is critical, Premista is compatible with ZEISS eXtended Data.
Fujinon has slated a virtual launch event on Jan. 28, so be sure to bookmark their YouTube channel. We'll update this post when we know the exact time.
The Premista 19-45mm T2.9 has a suggested retail price of $49,900.
