I love a good wager, so I thought I'd break down each of these selections to help you put your money on the right horses. In this game, the horses that don't win are usually dead though...hey, the characters are the glue that holds a great drama together...sorry. I had to.

Daenerys Targaryen
She's the obvious choice. She has two dragons left and the rightful claim. Still, I think she has to pay for the sins of her father and brother. We've seen her rage cause her to lose control. And with Tyrion wanting a democracy she could run into unforeseen enemies. We're going to have to see where it takes her, especially since most people are predicting she's with child.
Jon Snow
Speaking of being with child, if it isn't the possible baby-daddy. Jon is always the reluctant but steadfast leader. It's hard not to think that he'd do anything to survive, especially after facing death. For some reason, I can't see Jon as anything but a sacrificial lamb. When it comes down to it, he will die for his woman and his people.
Bran Stark
Nah. Just not feeling it. The Raven doesn't rule. He sees the future.
The Night King
What an ending. Kill everyone and everything you love. The bad guy wins. Game over. I don't see it happening. Game of Thrones has always been bleak. It's always been unsettling. But letting the Wights rule doesn't feel thematically plausible. It could happen.
Tyrion Lannister
This guy wants democracy, but I could see him getting the votes. If he makes it past Cersei and all the others who want him dead, he's the most level-headed choice for a ruler of Westeros.
Jamie Lannister
I mean...he could rule with an iron fist. Well, gold fist. Much like Jon, it feels like Jamie will sacrifice himself. Especially for his unborn incest baby. I mean, if that baby is real. Jamie was riding toward the North at the end of Season Seven. I don't see a guy crossing Cersei and living to tell the tale.
Cersei Lannister
I legitimately think she's the second most likely bet. She's ruthless. She will do anything. And she's angry. Knowing George R.R. Martin's tendency to subvert expectations, I could see Cersei waging a crazy war that kills everyone and leaves her alone. Sure, she'd be lonely, but she'd be on the throne.
Sansa Stark
Look, this is where my money would go. She has the brains; she knows how to make the allies. I think there's a logical sense that Sansa has grown up looking for revenge, and now has found power. I don't see her relinquishing it. She's the fulfillment of her namesake.
Arya Stark
Nope. She's the wolf in the wild. A survivor. Even if everyone was dead, Arya has a higher calling.
Euron Greyjoy
I can't wait till this dude is dead. I won't even dignify this theory.
Varys
Seems like he's more likely to be the winner's, right-hand man. I'm not sure anyone would follow him into battle.
Gendry
He certainly has the bloodline and the hammer. I would say if you were trying to bet outside the box, he's the best option. I do think his kingly blood would help. He seems to be liked by everyone around him. If he gets the chance, I could see him shining. But we all know there's a bounty on his head still. That truly worries me.
Samwell Tarly
Nah. Can we all agree he's George R.R. Martin? The series will end with him writing the books. I mean...right?
Davos
Would stan for this so hard. But there's a reason he has the worst odds. He's a hired gun. I want him to live. We all deserve his wise-cracks forever more.
