Michael Jackson Gets Investigated in Powerful 'Leaving Neverland' Trailer
Is the King of Pop guilty?
A four-hour documentary on the sexual allegations held against the late pop icon Michael Jackson, Dan Reed's Leaving Neverland was the subject of much controversy when it premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
Protestors showed up (albeit in small amounts) to Park City, Utah, to defend Jackson, a man who for many years was accused of sexually abusing children at his Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. The festival received much pushback for choosing to screen the film. Reviews wrestled with whether or not Jackson was guilty.
Featuring two men who were friends of Jackson's (often visiting the Neverland Ranch years prior as youths) and are now ready to speak on the record about the abuse they suffered, Leaving Neverland may prove to be the ultimate piece of evidence in this ongoing trial of public opinion.
HBO is banking on a winner (hello Oscar nominations next year...) and is set to air the documentary over two evenings, on Sunday, March 3rd and Monday, March 4th, 2019.
