You might know Moment for its pro-level mobile filmmaking gear, including lense and filters, but the company is also in the app game. It came out with Pro Camera back in 2018 to give creatives more control over their camera settings, and now the company is giving them even more with the new 4.0 update.

At the center of Pro Camera 4.0: time-lapse mode.

Mobile filmmakers can now shoot time-lapses on their smartphones with the level of control you might expect from the app, including the ability to set intervals and the number of shots, but they can also take advantage of the app's long exposure capabilities to apply motion blurs and light trails when shooting at night. Features also include a duration calculator that tells you how long your shoot will take, exposure bracketing for HDR video, bit rate selection, and 4K exporting.

I've personally been a fan of Moment ever since its first Kickstarter campaign—back when you had to use a thin piece of metal with adhesive to mount those gorgeous smartphone lenses—so, I use the Pro Camera app quite regularly, especially when I'm shooting with a Moment lens.

It's a lot like FiLMiC Pro in that it lets you take control of your smartphone camera settings, including shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and focus, not to mention features like RAW recording, color profiles, live RGB histogram, focus peaking, zebra, waveform monitor, and anamorphic support.

The addition of a time-lapse mode just makes Pro Camera even more attractive, because it gives filmmakers another effective tool to bust out whenever they're out in the field at an affordable price. You don't have to use the native Apple time-lapse feature (which gives you almost zero options). You don't need to download a separate app. Just open Pro Camera and you're ready to roll.
