PlantCam: Shoot Plant Timelapses or DIY Projects With This Aptly Named Plant Camera
A new timelapse camera is on the scene, designed specifically for watching your plants grow, or whatever other experimental DIY projects you can dream up.

PlantCam Timelapse Camera
Well, this is a cool invention with a single purpose. The aptly named PlantCam is a plant camera that watches your plants grow. It’s clever repackaging and marketing for what is basically just a time-lapse camera, and a pretty sophisticated one at that.
It is also a quite capable time-lapse camera that could be used either for its main purpose (plants) or for whatever else you might dream up.
Let's take a quick look at PlantCam and what it offers.
Meet the PlantCam
I love this. The PlantCam website very plainly states that it is “a camera for plants.” You know, because it is. Designed for one specific purpose, in theory at least, the PlantCam is a compact time-lapse camera with a few unique features tailored specifically for recording time-lapses of your plants growing.
Which, believe it or not, is something that pretty much all plant parents would actually really enjoy seeing. Billed as something more for personal fun than for content, the camera is actually capable of doing both.
The first clever innovation is that this PlantCam features a suction cup that can be attached to a window or other surface near said plant to watch it grow. It could also record time-lapses of whatever else you want in the same manner.
The PlantCam also comes with a free PlantCam app that connects via Bluetooth and gives users access to videos of their plants and whatever else they film.

Overall, this is a simple concept that for many will be a simple product. If you want to record videos of your plants growing and watch them back on your phone, then this is for you. If you want an easy, GoPro-esque timelapse camera to record timelapses of whatever else you might want for a project, this camera can do that too.
It’s also quite affordable at just under $150 and easy to use, as you might imagine. If you’re curious, here’s a link to check it out on the company’s website here.
