Since it's introduction a little over a year ago, the free mobile video app Vine has become a pretty significant player in smartphone filmmaking, inspiring the creation of hilarious 6-second videos, wise film industry musings, feature films, and even film contests. If you love Vine and missed the chance to put your micro-content skills to the test last year, Tribeca has once again sent out a call for entries for their 2nd Annual #6SECFILMS Vine Competition. Continue on to find out how to enter.

Tribeca sums up what the contest is all about:

Vine creators can enter as many Vines as they want in any of the following categories: #GENRE, #DRAMA, #COMEDY, or #ANIMATION, and the TFF programming team will create a short list of their favorites to share with our jury (jury to be announced soon). The jury will choose a winner in each category, and the public will vote on an audience award winner across all categories.

So, here are the steps you need to take to enter. (Remember, you can enter as many Vines as you want!)

  1. Make a Vine (duh)
  2. Tag Your Vine with the #6SECFILMS and category hashtags (#GENRE, #DRAMA, #COMEDY, #ANIMATION)
  3. Post Your Vine and Check the Box to Share it to Twitter by March 27, 2014 at 11:59:59 pm ET
  4. Answer the Twitter message you receive from @TribecaVine and accept the rules

If you want to give your video a better chance at winning, Tribeca suggests giving your Vine a story with a begging, middle, and end, as well as "unique characters, worlds, and plots." Here are a few of the winning Vine's from last year, but check out the rest of them here to get an idea of what you could be up against.

One winner will be selected from each category, and they, as well as the Audience Award winner, will receive a meeting with GrapeStory, which pairs the micro-content creators with brands (you'll see some of the biggest Vine all-stars on their site), a winner badge to put on their social media accounts, and a profile/interview on TribecaFilm.com. Winners will be announced April 15th.

Be sure to check out the official rules before you enter to make sure that you and your video are eligible.
