Without a doubt, Zacuto's Gratical HD viewfinder is the most versatile and full-featured EVF on the market, but it comes at a steep price. What if you could get the same high quality OLED display in a smaller package, without all of the high-end features of the Gratical? Well that's exactly what Zacuto is providing with their newly-showcased Eye EVF, which will utilize your camera's internal exposure, focus, and display tools instead of proprietary ones from Zacuto, thus offering a extremely high quality EVF at what's likely to be a fraction of the cost of the Gratical.
Check out the Eye EVF towards the 2:28 mark of our NAB 2015 video with Zacuto, which also covers the updated Recoil rig and the Gratical:

Just a note that 5.4 million dots is NOT the same as 5.4 million pixels. In OLED terms, a dot is a single sub-pixel colour (ie red, green or blue), so for pixels, you divide it by three, giving us 1.8 million dots, which, assuming a 16:9 ratio is 1080p.

Typical Zacuto hype, at least they aren't using the two most annoying people in the camera biz to spruik their products anymore!

I heard $1,500 today compared to the $3,000+ for the HD

I can only imagine the conversation between those two in the video, after filming ended. Lots of great goofy cute energy..

I much prefer the Eye concept. Keep it small and simple. The Gratical's price is double Black Magics soon to be released OLED 1080p EVF and lacks the versatility of the half priced Small HD / Sideview EVF combo. I hope the Eye is competitively priced.

It seems that regardless of what the price is, Zacuto's reputation will lead us to assume that it's way higher than it should be.
