The Ki Pro Ultra Plus is AJA's latest addition to its line of professional video recorders. The Ultra Plus offers multi-channel HD Apple ProRes recording and single-channel mode for 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD MXF recording and playback.
Designed to be portable via its built-in handle, it's also rack-mountable, with half-rack-wide 2RU dimensions for those working in studio or network environments. Cameras are connected to the rear of the device via 3G-SDI, fiber, or HDMI.
It will record one, two, three, or four channels of HD up to 1080p 50/60 in Apple ProRes simultaneously in multi-camera environments.
Recording single camera, the Ultra Plus supports 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD with six different levels of Apple ProRes, including Apple ProRes 4444 XQ. Additionally, there's native support for Avid MXF HD workflows and you can record and play back DNxHD files with an OP1a profile within an MXF container for DNxHD HQX (220x), DNxHD SQ (145) and DNxHD LB (36) codecs. It even allows for independent profile support of each channel, where you can select a high-resolution ProRes HQ on one input and a second input can record ProRes (Proxy) for efficiency in post.
Full HDMI 2.0 offers color support up to 4:4:4 12-bit RGB, while single-cable can transport both UltraHD or HD video and 24-bit 48hz 8-channel audio over HDMI 2.0 devices.
Speaking of audio, the Ultra Plus provides full 16-channel audio support over SDI or fiber and monitoring can be achieved via a headphone jack located on the front. There are also audio inputs for AES and balanced analog XLRs. Media is stored onto AJA Pak SSD media with its Pak1000 offering 1TB of fast SSD media for up to 4K recording at 60p in ProRes HQ.
