RØDE Seeks Your Short Idea (and Offers a Trip to Australia to Film It)
Here's how to win a trip to Sydney to shoot a fully crewed promotional video.
With much of America's East Coast experiencing extremely cold and snowy weather conditions over the past week, you'd be forgiven daydreaming about the currently sunshine-soaked destinations elsewhere around the world. Snuggled up next to your space heater and blankets, perhaps you've googled "warmer climates" and noticed that the current temperature in Sydney, Australia is a pleasant 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Intrigued, you continued reading up on the city and typed in "film opportunities/competitions in Sydney." Here's one you may have missed.
Based and produced in Sydney, the RØDE Microphones company has a footprint in 113 countries around the world. Known for its high quality, highly durable studio, live, and location-based audio equipment, the company is also known for its endeavors that support the film community at large, most notably its annual My RØDE Reel short film competition. The largest of its kind, the competition receives over 8,000 submissions from 90 countries.
For the first time ever, RØDE Microphones has created a competition to help promote its competition.
In a quest for the most optimal way to promote this year's competition, they will need your help. For the first time ever, RØDE Microphones has created a competition to help promote its competition.
Put simply, RØDE is looking for someone who can create an exciting video that will ultimately encourage other short filmmakers to apply to "My RØDE Reel." If you think you have the right kind of visual eye/marketing brain to create a dynamic three-minute promotional video highlighting the competition, you should definitely apply by submitting a script, treatment or visual storyboard here. If selected, you will be flown out to Sydney in February for half-a-week to shoot the video (and bask in the sunshine, of course) with a full production crew!
Interested in applying? Materials must be submitted by January 15th. The selected filmmaker will officially be announced on January 31st. For more information, click here.
