Every year as we hit awards season, the guilds get together and produce really fun panels where people talk about their craft. The best, in my opinion, come from the WGA. This year is no different. The Writers Guild Foundation, in partnership with Final Draft, Variety, and The Black List, present Beyond Words. It's the annual celebration of the 2022 Writers Guild Award nominees for screenwriting.

The first feature covered the Adapted Screenplay nominees and the second featured the Original Screenplay nominees. Both panels were hosted and moderated by Black List founder and CEO Franklin Leonard.

First up, check out the adapted panel, which includes Guillermo del Toro and Kim Morgan for Nightmare Alley; Sian Heder, who wrote CODA, based on La Famille Belie; Steven Levenson, who wrote Tick, Tick... Boom, based on the play by Jonathan Larson; Tony Kushner, who wrote West Side Story; and finally, Jon Spaihts, Denis Villeneuve, and Eric Roth, who wrote Dune, based on the novel by Frank Herbert.

That's some bonkers talent! Check out the program below.

If you liked the adapted category, then we know you'll love the original writers as well. Again, moderated by Black List founder and CEO Franklin Leonard, with panelists Zach Baylin for King Richard, Adam McKay for Don’t Look Up, and Aaron Sorkin for Being the Ricardos

If you want to read any of these screenplays, check out our download page where you can find all of them.

I thought both these panels explained a lot about the business and gave some useful tools to writers looking to break into Hollywood.
