Well, it’s finally here as GoPro has now officially made its new MISSION 1 PRO ILS available for pre-order. Set to be the world’s smallest, and perhaps its most rugged, compact cinema camera with interchangeable lenses, the MISSION 1 PRO ILS is another version of the company’s bold new move into the cinema camera space with the MISSION 1 PRO lineup.

Part action camera, part compact cinema camera, and filmmaker-ready, the MISSION 1 PRO ILS could be a strong option for filmmakers, videographers, or other content creators looking to pair it with their best MFT-compatible lenses.

Let’s look at the GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS, what it is, how we got here, and explore if it might be a nice option for yourself.

Available for pre-order starting today, and with a suggested retail price that’s truly quite affordable compared to what the rest of the market is offering, the GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS is a nice reminder that a company doesn’t have to be just one thing. Although, to be fair, the MISSION 1 PRO series is the same thing as before, but just done much differently, and arguably, much better.

The MISSION 1 PRO ILS in particular is set to shine best with the same 50MP 1" sensor and ultra-efficient GP3 processor as MISSION 1 PRO, as well as feature some diverse capabilities for working with different lenses for intricate macro details, telephoto isolation, or wide cinematic framing.

The PRO ILS model is also set to be quite tiny and weigh just under 7oz, yet still versatile and rugged enough to fit into tight spaces like car interiors and handle full builds or rigs for more serious productions.

New Camera, New App

Overall, the GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS is another promising camera and a big swing for GoPro, with diverse features and 8K video capabilities. Along with the official launch of the PRO ILS model, GoPro has also unveiled its new MISSION Monitor app, a free professional video monitoring solution for iPhone and iPad that should further kick things up a notch for those looking to try out these new MISSION 1 Pro cameras.

If you missed our write-ups on the MISSION 1 Pro before, the ILS version is set to be the MFT version with even more advanced specs in most areas as it will offer 8K60, 4K240 and 1440p480, plus Open Gate modes up to 8K30 and 4K120 that use the full image sensor for maximum height and width delivering the most post-production flexibility as well as modes like Burst Slo-Mo for 10-second 1080p clips at 960 fps for 32x slo-mo.

Also of note, the PRO ILS will feature an all-new 2150mAh Enduro 2 battery that is set to deliver over 3 hours of continuous 4K30 recording and over 5 hours of 1080p30 recording on a single charge, with rapid charging for less downtime on set.
