The 2022 Academy Awards Slapped: See the Winners

The Academy Awards are supposed to be a night full of glitz and glamour. Instead, this year's show was largely an insult to cinema.

There were tons more commercial breaks, the show sidelined major creators and awards, treated artists like second-class citizens, and then Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, and everything officially went off the rails. Despite unaired categories, this show was even longer than last year's.

Yes, there was a show, yes, the slap happened, and yes, this was still one of the dullest and vapid ceremonies ever.

Just once, I'd like to see real movie-lovers get the chance to embrace the awards. Make them long, make them celebrate film, and remind the world that our greatest empathy machine matters.
