The 2022 Emmy Nominations Are Here!

The nominations are here for the 2022 Emmy Awards. After a two-year break thanks to COVID, the Emmy's will be fully in person this year. And that's not the only big change. As streaming takes over more and more, we've seen series in comedy and drama change.

The awards actually eliminated program time length stipulations for comedy and drama series this year, so you could have a 30-minute drama and an hour-long comedy. They also redefined what a “limited series” can be—meaning, it is just a closed story for one season?

In addition to that, The TV Academy ruled that any movie placed on the viewing platform for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would be deemed a theatrical motion picture (even if it just appeared online) and thus is ineligible for the Emmy competition. Expect these rules to continue to evolve over time as streaming changes things drastically. 

This year’s Emmy Awards will air on Sept. 12 on NBC and Peacock at 5 p.m PST. No host has been set yet.
