In space, no one can hear you scream, but we can hear these high schoolers' excitement all over the globe.
Last week, we all wished we could 21 Jump Street the high school that put on Alien as their school play. It was an inspired choice that was a great tribute to H.R. Giger, Ridley Scott, Sigourney Weaver, and everyone involved.
Well, word travels fast on the internet, and now Ridley Scott has written these high school students a letter encouraging them to continue to create and imagine. Kind words from the elderly auteur, who shows no signs of slowing down himself.
You can read the letter below:
Along with Ridley, Sigourney Weaver has thrown her hat into the ring. She offered this kind video which was posted to Twitter:
Students at North Bergen High School in New Jersey recently put on an AMAZING production of #Alien. Hollywood noticed. And so did... the Queen. pic.twitter.com/u3iNOgk8Pr
It's amazing to see Hollywood embracing these takes on the classic film. Especially with the recent reports of high schools being sued for their productions of To Kill A Mockingbird. I know I wish my high school did anything besides Godspell over and over. The Alien production looks so punk-rock.
Check out some video of the High School's production below!
What's next? Check out Ridley Scott's Hennessy Commercial!
I think we can all agree that Ridley Scott is one of the most influential filmmakers of his era. He and his brother burst onto the scene creating commercials before then graduating to feature films. My first job in Hollywood was working at RSA and Scott Free as a runner, then as a temp, and then as an assistant. It's safe to say there's a big soft spot in my heart for the guy who used to call me "the intern who smiles all the time." Now check out his first commercial in decades.

And thank you Ridley Scott, Sigourney Weaver for dishing out some well-deserved kudos. Nice to see encouraging stuff from tinsel town.
