While SmallHD has enjoyed some solid across-the-board success with their 5-inch FOCUS, to some its size left… a little to be desired. Luckily, needs are here to be met with news of the manufacturer releasing a new, updated, and more large and in charge version of the FOCUS 5-inch with the new FOCUS 7.

Let’s take a look at how this new version stacks up to its predecessor and if it’s right for your filmmaking needs.

SmallHD FOCUS 7

Designed with 4K filmmakers in mind, the FOCUS 7 looks to not only be a physical upgrade on the previous SmallHD FOCUS, but also packs some extra punch (with some added cost as well).

The biggest news with the increased size is the 1920x1200 resolution along with some incredible brightness (1000 nits bright) for some near-perfect daylight viewing. The monitor also uses the SMALLHD OS3 software for touchscreen functionality that includes pinch-to-zoom, waveform monitors, focus pulling aides and even 3D LUTs.
