WWDC26: Apple Unveils Next-Gen Siri AI Intelligence and New Immersive Video Updates
While there weren’t many filmmaking- and video-focused updates at Apple’s WWDC this year, we do have some improved Siri AI and new immersive video updates to explore.

Apple WWDC26
Well, that’s kind of a letdown. Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference has come and gone, and unlike a few years ago, it wasn’t particularly notable for filmmakers and video editors. This is mostly because Apple has been rolling out its big updates for Final Cut Pro and its latest iPhone models on different timelines, so it was kind of expected.
Still, the big news for many might have more to do with the previewed next-generation of Apple Intelligence, the introduction of Siri AI, and some notable updates for Apple Immersive Video, including a new way foveated streaming is bringing immersive content to visionOS.
Here are the highlights of what you need to know.

As mentioned above, most of the big headlines coming out of WWDC26, which happened yesterday at the company’s iconic headquarters in Cupertino, California, really have to do with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Not the most exciting news for filmmakers, video editors, and professionals, but to be expected in today’s AI-centric tech environment.
“Apple products are an essential part of people’s lives, and this year we’re bringing powerful new capabilities to empower our users in even more ways. We’re delivering the next generation of Apple Intelligence across our platforms; introducing Siri AI, a profoundly more intelligent, knowledgeable, and capable Siri; expanding child safety features with intuitive new tools for families; and making our software platforms faster, more reliable, and more delightful than ever before.” - Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering.
As you might expect, this next-gen of Apple Intelligence will power Siri AI and promises to bring helpful new features to apps and tools integrated into the full Apple ecosystem, including AI help with editing images.
Apple Immersive Video Updates
The other big news, and perhaps actually the most notable for film and video folks, includes some Apple Immersive video updates. The biggest announcement here is that the company is releasing its own Apple Immersive Live formats for real-time events, along with other updates to immersive video environments across visionOS, available with the Vision Pro.
As introduced in the video above, the company has shared that foveated streaming can now be used to deliver remotely rendered scenes to the Vision Pro in full fidelity. This is an expansion on how native visionOS capabilities can be combined with third-party streaming technologies in a completely wireless setup, and the demo showcases scenes developed using OpenXR and NVIDIA CloudRX.
This is probably the most exciting news from WWDC26, but likely the most niche, as Foveated Streaming frameworks might be a bit removed from everyday filmmaking and video content creation workflows for right now.
