10 years ago, aliens attacked a bunch of teens in South London in the sci-fi/horror cult movie, Attack the Block. The film launched John Boyega's career and won the Audience Award at SXSW and the Los Angeles Film Festival. It also starred British mainstays Jodie Whittaker (Dr. Who), and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead).

Now, Deadline reports that Boyega and writer/director Joe Cornish are reuniting for a sequel.

“It’s been a decade since Attack the Block was released and so much has changed since then,” Boyega said in a statement. “I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favorite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honor.”

Cornish added, “I’m thrilled we’re officially announcing our return to the world of Attack the Block on the 10th anniversary of the film’s release. I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action.”

Plot details are still under wraps.

We love this news because the original movie was a scrappy, genre-mashing movie that put a unique spin on familiar and fun ideas.
