Don't let the name fool you. Disney+ Day—which is a weeklong series of events—is aimed at generating more users of their global streaming platform through a string of promotions, events, and content premiers.

The streaming powerhouse, known for exclusive Pixar premieres to hosting Beyoncé's Black Is King feature-length visual album, wants fans of the service to be excited to learn what they can except their subscription.

What can we expect from Disney+ Day?

One of the announcements that many of us here at No Film School are excited about has to do with our favorite galaxy far, far away.

Back in December 2020, Disney held its official Investor Day, which brought a variety of exciting and unexpected announcements about Star Wars. These announcements got fans excited about what could be unveiled for Disney+ Day with some hoping to learn about the franchise’s future on the silver screen while others are more excited about the universe expanding on the streaming platform.

With Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett releasing its first official teaser earlier this week, giving us a first look at footage from the spin-off Star Wars series, fans are more eager than ever to see more of our favorite characters from the franchise return.

Star Wars fans have been hoping for more of Ewan McGregor’s charming Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the Jedi Master is finally returning for his own spin-off show. Set 10 years after the events in Revenge of the Sith, the show will follow Kenobi as he watches over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.

A sizzle reel that was displayed at last year’s Investor Day had StarWarsNewsNetnoting that fans might expect an actual teaser trailer for the new project. Although we might not get a teaser trailer due to the recently released Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett trailer, fans can expect a glimpse into how the project came together with a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel for the series.

A release date for Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi has not been set, but the series will likely drop the first half of 2022. With the arrival of actual footage for the series, fans will be sent into a dizzying state of demanding a release date from the studios. Fingers crossed we see one soon.

Another project that has been in production for some time now is Star Wars: Andor, focusing on Diego Luna’s Rebel spy from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rather than seeing an official teaser for the new series, the outlet claims that audiences can expect another sizzle reel.

This series went into production before both Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, so being denied an official teaser trailer is sure to shake up some fans.

How long can we wait? Until the official sizzle reels drop for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor, Disney+ is releasing a teaser for Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch along with an all-new project that is still under wraps.

Disney+ Day will allow new and eligible returning Disney+ subscribers can get one month of service for $1.99 to stream all of their favorite shows and discover new ones as well. After the first discounted month, the service goes back to the regular price of $7.99/month in the U.S. Those who are eligible for the offer can sign up and find more information on other Disney+ Day events and promotions here
