One of our favorite annual traditions around here is to read what Steven Soderbergh watched over the last year. He's the ultimate director with a breadth of knowledge on film and TV, plus the desire to read and watch more. Those familiar with his practice know what I mean, but for those uninitiated, Soderbergh lists all the media he consumes over the course of the year. He puts the date next to them so you can track his watching.

It's always been a goal of mine to make something he watches at some point, but for now, I'll draw inspiration from his list.

The key to understanding the list below

Here is how Soderbergh's list is arranged:

  • All caps, bold: MOVIE
  • All caps, bold, asterisk: SHORT*
  • All caps: TV SERIES
  • Italics: Book
  • Quotation marks: “Play”
  • Italics, quotation marks: “Short Story”
