Budget Filmmaking Tools You Can Get at Your Local Hardware Store
Not all filmmaking gear has to come from the camera shop. Here are some DIY filmmaking tools that you can get from hardware stores like Harbor Freight.

Hardware Store Filmmaking Tools
Who doesn’t love a good DIY filmmaking tool? One of my fondest memories from my time in film school was going to a Home Depot to get the parts and tools I needed to make a DIY camera gimbal with my dad. We had found a tutorial online that laid out how to make a simple weight-balanced gimbal rig out of PVC pipes, and it was one of the most rewarding afternoon projects of my life.
It also produced a very useful and pragmatic gimbal, which I used for years with my DSLR setup. Projects like these can not only be fun but also provide a creative spark to your filmmaking routines.
In the same spirit, we really dug this video on budget filmmaking gear by YouTube filmmaker Keaton Nye, which goes over the gear he uses from a hardware store. Let’s check it out.
