Lensbaby glass carries a certain look and appeal that won't be for everyone. They're mainly used by photographers, but when paired for video, they can produce a soft image that is quite unique. Dream sequences immediately come to mind.
Optically, the Velvet 28 is comprised of 8 multi-coated glass elements in 7 groups with a 12-blade aperture design. At its widest, the aperture is F2.5 and it closes down to F22. However, there is a bonus 1/3 stop of light indicated by a + sign on the aperture ring that goes beyond F2.5. So if you need to squeeze in some extra light, F2.2 is available. The lens has a minimum focus distance of 2 inches and very capable 1:2 macro functionality. The lens has an all-metal design and a 67mm front thread to add standard filters.
