It's been a long time coming, but Panasonic revealed via its social media pages that they "are pleased to announce that we will present new LUMIX GH series cameras at an online launch event." The virtual event will take place Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.

Not many details were shared, but Panasonic pointed out that they "are committed to further enhancing the G Series lineup and performance of conventional Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and lenses to meet the continuous demands of creators who value the strong advantage that only MFT can offer."

So it looks like MFT is very much part of the Panasonic strategy moving forward, and we love it. With the push toward large format, MFT is still a very viable image format for video and still shooters alike. The lenses are inexpensive, file sizes are generally smaller, and because of the smaller sensor, Panasonic can push for higher bit rates and resolution without the worry of a smaller body overheating like a full-frame mirrorless camera.
