One of the movies that hit me the hardest this year was Aftersun. It was written and directed by Charlotte Wells, starring Paul Mescal, Frankie Corio, and Celia Rowlson-Hall. The movie is set in the early 2000s, where we follow an 11-year-old Scottish girl named Sophie on vacation with her father at a Turkish resort on the eve of his 31st birthday.

It's a beautiful movie with an incredible screenplay.

The Aftersun screenplay might be considered special for various reasons such as its unique storyline, captivating characters, vivid dialogue, creative structure, and emotional depth among other elements. However, as this is subjective, what makes the Aftersun screenplay special can vary greatly based on individual opinions.

For me, I think the idea of growing into our understanding of our parents, and also being unable to help them through real problems is a devastating one.

This movie shows that part of coming of age is understanding that your elders are just humans with flaws, and we have to learn to accept them that way.

Let me know your favorite parts of the screenplay in the comments.
