The peer-to-peer equipment rental marketplace ShareGrid is adding more tools to their platform of over 70,000 users. Now users can post public wish-lists of gear they need for a shoot, their allotted budget, and rental houses and ShareGrid members can place bids (privately) on the job. This new attempt at connecting filmmakers and equipment owners is a welcome addition to their platform, though I'm seeing a lot of lowballing on Pro listings so far. ShareGrid Pro is not what it sounds like: some kind of subscription upgrade — it's completely free for all ShareGrid accounts.

From the ShareGrid website:

"Enter your production type, dates, and drop in your gear list. Once submitted, a handful of vetted pro members will submit bids to fulfill your order request. You can compare gear, prices, service, reviews, amenities, and locations to decide which bid is best for your production. Select a bid and add it to your cart. Once the checkout process is complete, you will be automatically connected directly with the rental house to arrange prep, pickup, and drop-off details."
