Finally! The Definitive Guide on How to Be a Filmmaker

So, you watched The Boondock Saints and have chosen to become a filmmaker, huh? Way to go, buddy! But before you get yourself a fishing vest and a matte box for reasons you won't admit are more aesthetic than utilitarian, you might want to watch this video.

The team over at IFHT, in partnership with Kessler, have made a hilarious video about what it takes to become a bonafide filmmaker, from making gear grids for guaranteed Instagram likes to spending your day balancing your stabilizer instead of actually shooting something. Ahhh -- filmmaking, right?!

And just in case you want to go behind the scenes -- here is a behind-the-scenes video -- that takes you behind the scenes.

Video is no longer available: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KzBDaw8mZc

A big thanks to Jason over at IFHT for sending this our way!

Did you relate with every single one of the steps in the video like I did? Got more to add? Let us know down in the comments!

Right now, I'm in the stage where you buy lenses, watch a movie one time to enjoy, a second to analise the story, a third to study cinematography and maybe a fourth to analise sound..... Aaaaand I'm saving for a video tripod and a follow focus and 15mm rails system....

The part I love the most is the lens cap part. It happens to me all the time. I could remember the first time I bought a new camera and lens... I misplaced the lens cap three days after and I searched and searched for me. It still happens to me all the time especially when you are working with several lenses on set and you just have to swap the lenses quickly while shooting... Now, where is my lens cap? lmao

Step one: Make a poorly made PSA mocking those who think they know what it means to make visual media. The irony is so thick I could cut with a fucking chainsaw.

I laughed a lot, especially on the "Lose all your caps lens": I have to admit it... I'm one of those who forgets where they are all the time! :)

The lens cap is hilarious. I can't like Step 19 enough. Since everyone has a drone, buy one. haha Seriously great video.
