What Does a DIT Cart Consist Of? Watch These Videos to Find Out

We've thoroughly broken down what's on a DIT's professional plate -- now let's take a look at what's on their cart.

A DIT (Digital Imaging Technician) is responsible for assisting the DP by controlling image quality, troubleshooting, on-set color correction, and managing production workflow. With all of those tasks, those interested in getting into this side of production might be wondering what kinds of tools the pros use. AbleCine shows you the anatomy of a DIT cart in this video series.

Whether you've worked with DITs extensively on films or you've never even heard of the term before, understanding how they contribute to a project is important. Learning what DITs are packing (so to speak), as well as how they deal with everything from I/O to data management is a great place to start.

Great series, thanks for the share! Been thinking about getting the mTape for footage archive/backup too, excellent piece of kit and LTO-6 is by far the best archiving format. But the mTape is still just bit too much for a freelancer, unless you can split the cost with someone else as you wouldn't be using it daily..

Oh btw, Abel is mis-spelled on the first para, sorry for typo-policing!

I work on small productions so there is no guarantee the production company will be able to access LTO tapes (or at least the version I use). But what I do is to have an SAS card (with external ports) in an enclosure. That way I can use LTO drives if the production has access to one.

It consists of junkfood, grabbing all the catering there is and eating everything so that when the other crew members want to have a bite the food is gone because of the DIT cart.
