We're not sure how this happened, but it appears that the most disliked video ever on Youtube dropped last week to the disdain of many. How many? Currently, 10 million dislikers have made their voices heard as opposed to the 2 million who voted "Up" on the somehow controversial video.
That video is Youtube's annual Rewind short film, a piece of content that sums up each of the popular trends and stars of the year by casting them in an all-encompassing mashup in which they interact with one another. Think of it as the All-Stars of Youtube being cast in a Marvel Cinematic Universe in which everyone exists in the same world. Does it make sense? Who cares? It's the company's most popular videos mashed into one, hopefully serving as a reminder of the success its content creators had in 2018. Check it out below.
Was your favorite Youtube star or viral content featured in Rewind 2018? If not, and you viewed the film mildly disappointed, you're not alone. Researchers have concluded that the reason Rewind 2018 is the most disliked video ever on Youtube is due to the exclusion of many of its most famous (albeit controversial *ahem, Logan Paul) stars. Although it's true that you can't please everyone, it appears that Rewind 2018 pleases very few. If your favorite Youtube star wasn't featured in Rewind 2018, there's a good chance you voted "Down" on the video as well.
The video itself is a boppy, beyond over-caffeinated cinema whatzit of the year's most meme-worthy material. It's bright, fast, and fun...that is until gets very serious, highlighting worthy causes that, important as they may be, feel a little out of place after the introduction that features Youtube stars riding a school bus high up in the sky. But hey, there's a cameo by that Yodeling Kid! What is there to complain about?
Nonetheless, the video remains Youtube's most disliked, today surpassing Justin Bieber's Baby music video as the most despised, a worthy achievement in and of itself.
