Disney+ Releasing Films to Help Those Under Quarantine
Will other platforms follow suit?
Stuck at home with the kids? Need something new to watch? Want to consume the entire Star Wars anthology? Disney+ Is trying to make it easier on you.
To help us through this trying time, Frozen II and Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker are both available NOW on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+.
In a tweet and a press release on Friday, March 13th, The Walt Disney Company recognized that Frozen II will bring “fun and joy during this challenging period.” The original announcement stated that the film would be available on Sunday, but as of 10:00 PM EST on Saturday, it was available to stream on Disney+ three months (and one day) ahead of schedule.

No word on whether other streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, or HBO have moved forward their releases, but, all have new content coming soon. New releases this weekend include Justine (Netflix), the second season premiere of Black Monday (Showtime) and the third season premiere of Westworld (HBO). We'll be sure to let you know if any episodes or films drop early!
More and more it seems that a halt on production will be extended and that many people around the world will be stuck at home. We expect that as a result, more streaming platforms will be releasing content they had otherwise planned on holding back. If you hear of anything let us know.
Also, if you’re in social distancing mode, and you’re inspired to create content, now might be a great time to check out our list of Spring 2020 Grants. No better time to start your application!
