At press time, Rami Malek, the star tour-de-force of Bohemian Rhapsody has not yet won an Academy Awards Oscar for his portrayal of Queen’s frontman Freddie Mercury.

However, everyone seems pretty damn sure that out of all the categories at the 91st Academy Awards, he has this one locked up. (And for the records, here are our No Film School Oscars 2019 picks if you’d like to fact check us next week…)

Update: we were right... On Malek (and Green Book for that matter). See the full Oscars results here.

Malek, perhaps best known before his Mercury portrayal for his work in the critically acclaimed Mr. Robot television series, has been on an award tour for his Bohemian Rhapsody role already winning a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and a Screen Actors Guild Award for best actor.

However, to really see Malek’s iconic reprisal of the late Queen’s frontman (just short of, you know, seeing the actual film in theaters), this video shows the original Live Aid (1985) set by Freddie Mercury and Queen side-by-side with Malek’s surprisingly spot-on and nuanced performance.
