Tilta Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K Modular Cage
The BMPCC 4K gets its first Tilta modular cage in this in-depth first look.

Tilta has dropped a sleek first look video for their upcoming modular cage for the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and man does this thing look awesome. As with the majority of Tilta’s cage designs, the BMPCC 4K offering is very much a modular and highly customizable option.

If you’re thinking about investing the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (or have already pulled the trigger), let’s look at one of the leading camera cage options soon to be available to you and what the Tilta BMPCC 4K Modular Camera Cage has to offer.

The Tilta Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K Modular Camera Cage

As a mix-and-match a la carte offering, Tilta has all the tools you can handle for building out a fully customized cage which is exactly what you need for your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K project workflow. One of the biggest highlights is anticipation of the upcoming Nucleus Nano motor with an optional side handle that features a small finger wheel to control said motor. A sturdy battery compartment compliments an SSD card holder in a frame made of strong Aluminium Alloy.

Tilta’s BMPCC 4K Powering Options

Tilta Cage Batteries
As you can see in the teaser video, Tilta is offering two different battery base plate options for either a V-mount battery or a Sony F970 battery. They also have a Sony NP-F battery plate option which attaches next to a DC port for powering the camera. The two base plate options mount underneath the camera and solve some of the early BMPCC power concerns, as well as provide power for other add-on accessories.

Additional Build-Out Options

Tilta Cage Options
Tilta features three side handle attachments (MHC-1, MHC-2 and MHC-3) as well as a practical Tilta Sunhood for the BMPCC 4K where you can shield your eyes but still access the touchscreen. The removable SSD holder mentioned above is a featured attachment to the Sunhood in a full build-out.

Modular Cage Pricing Options

As with most Tilta modular cage offerings, your build-out is customizable with the basic cage price starting at $69 and going up from there. The complete build-out, including the 15mm LWS base plate and top handle can push your investment a bit upwards, but each option depends on your needs. Full build-out option pricing included in the graphic below.

Space between handle and body looks pretty cramped. Wish they had a nice solution for the minixlr output.

Mark of "Engineer(man/woman)ship or Engineerhumanship" (politically most correct) . I really wish it works as goooood as it looks. Seriously, Hats Off to the designers.

How about custom minixlr cable ? as concerned by Alex Montoya because Sound is Crucial to a production.

This design addresses practical issues of the camera and hits them out of the ground - SSD Holder, Battery Power, AutoFocus....what?, Sunhood etc...., which is a mark of Entrepreneurship (gender bender) --- to solve problems.

Clearly, this got me excited and now the question is when will I get to own it :)

Cheers !!
